About Us

The Atascocita Methodist Church chartered Cub Scout Pack 56 in 1991 to provide the Scouting program to young boys from the area. Boy Scouts of America recognizes Cub Scout Pack 56 as a 2009 Centennial Quality Unit. In 2017, the BSA welcomed girls into Cub Scouts.

Cub Scouting is a home and neighborhood centered program designed to support the values you teach at home.  Cub Scouts learn respect for God, country and other people, as well as other positive skills:

  • Physical skills through sports, crafts and games
  • Sportsmanship by “Doing Your Best”
  • Getting along with others
  • Personal achievement
  • Academic skills
  • Positive decision-making
  • Independence

The Cub Scout program is based on age-appropriate activities for boys and girls.  Boys and girls are divided into dens according to their grade level in school.  They will work on achievements at weekly den meetings and at home to earn their ranks.  The whole family can attend monthly Pack meetings, where the Scouts showcase their skills, participate in skits and games, and receive their awards.  The Scouts also have the opportunity to experience the outdoors by enjoying family campouts in various locations throughout the year.
